Occupation: Waterski Coach, Strength and Conditioning Specialist

  1. When and where did you learn how to ski?

My dad taught me to ski when I was 5 years old on a public lake in Indiana. Growing up, we would drive an hour to the lake and set up a portable slalom course and then later we joined a ski club.

  1. What is your favorite waterski memory?

I have so many memories it’s hard to choose one. Skiing with my cousins and grandparents at Dale Hallow Lake, my dad and I qualifying for our first nationals the same year, and watching my parents run down the shoreline when I won nationals this year are definitely among the highlights.

  1. What do you love most about the sport?

Definitely the friendships! Some of my best friends are from working at ski schools and skiing on the Purdue Waterski Team.

  1. When and where did you learn how to ski?

My dad taught me to snow ski at 3 years old and waterski at 5 years old. We always had a boat and would go out every weekend in the summer.

  1. What is your favorite waterski memory?

There are so many great memories since I’ve been in the sport for 40 years now. It could be winning my first Nationals or European Championships, but I would say the training sessions with my dad and friends in Belgium bring back great memories.

  1. What do you love most about the sport?

My love for the sport has evolved over the years. I love the feeling of gliding over the water, cranking a big turn and accelerating, but I also love the camaraderie and friendships that develop as a result of spending quality time together at the lake.
